With a bachelor’s in architecture and urbanism from Ibero-American University in Mexico City, Fernando Arteaga serves as the principal and director of design at HKS in Miami, Florida. Upon graduating from the university in the early 1990s, he joined Legorreta Architects, a Mexico City-based architecture firm. While dispatching other professional obligations, Fernando Arteaga of Miami developed architecture concept ideas and researched new structural design solutions.
Following his six-year tenure at Legorreta, Mr. Arteaga relocated to the United States to function as a design manager at Rockwell Group in New York. After four years in that role, he moved to Chicago to assume a role as a senior project manager at Gensler. He then took on duties in Dubai and Singapore at Hirsch Bedner Associates and Wilson Associates, respectively. In 2017 he returned to the US to serve as associate vice president at CallisonRTKL in Miami.
Throughout his career, Fernando Arteaga has received many accolades, including design awards from Porcelanosa Group. Moreover, he has been recognized as a design finalist in several competitions and was named a top designer in Florida by Decor Magazine in 2019. He was also part of the team responsible for the L’Antic Colonial exhibition space that opened in 2014.
Not only has Mr. Arteaga been invited to speak at numerous hospitality expositions over the years, but he has also functioned as an advisor to hotels as they reopen facilities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
